Back glass damage is one of the most common issues we see with iPhones. It looks bad, feels worse, and can even affect how your phone functions. But repairing it isn’t as simple as swapping out a screen—at Mr. Phix, we use a specialized laser machine along with hands-on skill to get the job done right.
Here’s what the process looks like inside our shop.
Initial Inspection and Prep Work
We start with a careful inspection to make sure only the back glass is damaged and that the phone is safe to work on. Once it’s cleared, we prep the device by shielding internal components or removing parts that could be affected by the heat from the laser.
Laser Adhesive Removal
Next comes the laser separation. We use a professional-grade laser machine to break down the adhesive that holds the glass to the iPhone’s frame. This method is far more efficient and precise than trying to remove the glass by force, and it protects the delicate parts inside the phone from damage.
Manual Glass Removal
Once the adhesive is loosened, we move to the hands-on part of the job. Our techs manually remove the remaining shards of glass using fine tools and a careful touch. This part takes time and precision—those tiny slivers can be stubborn, and it’s important to get every last piece off cleanly.
Installing the New Back Glass
After all the old glass is gone, we clean the surface thoroughly, apply fresh adhesive, and install a new back glass panel. It’s important that the new glass sits flush and is properly sealed to match the original fit and finish.
Final Testing and Quality Check
Before we return your phone, we run a full functionality check—buttons, wireless charging, cameras, and more—to ensure everything is working exactly as it should.
